I threw 20.27m (66' 6") for 6th place. I can't help but feel a little disappointed but all things considered, it was a good weekend for me. I didn't even qualify for USAs in the discus last year and I ended up in my highest nationals placing ever this year. I also didn't even make the final in the shot last year. One of my goals this year is to be consistent over 20m and I have another meet to add to that list. Now I'm back in Chula Vista for a few more days before I take off for the summer. My first stop will be in Vancouver, British Columbia on July 5th followed by the Victoria Track Classic on the 7th. From there, it's off to Europe!
Welcome!
I've created this page to enable my friends and family to keep track of my training and competitions. Most of my posts will be related to training, traveling, and competing but I'll put in other interesting things as they occur. Look for new posts, pictures, and video at least once a week!

USAs Part 2
I threw 58.55m (192' 1") today in the discus and got 4th! We had a screaming tailwind so the discs didn't carry very well. Casey Malone won the event at 62.57m (205' 3"). The performance of the day, however, came from Kara. She set a new American record in the javelin at 66.67m (218' 9")! Kara crushed the old record by over two meters! She has worked so hard this year and it's awesome to see that hard work start to pay off.

USAs Part 1
I'm in Des Moines, Iowa for the 2010 USA National Championships, which are being held at Drake University. Discus is tomorrow at 4pm and shot is Sunday at noon. There is limited TV coverage as well. Who knows exactly what they'll show but there might be a few throws :)
June 25 - 8-10pm - ESPN
June 26 - 1-2:30pm - ESPN
June 26 - 3-4pm - NBC
June 27 - 1-2:30pm - ESPN
June 27 - 3-4pm - NBC
I had a good pre-meet throwing session this morning and I'm feeling healthy (mostly), recovered from the travel, and relaxed (especially after my new hang snatch PR of 132.5K (291.5 lbs) on Tuesday). I'm feeling good about tomorrow!

OTC Meet - June 14
Only threw discus at the meet here on Monday and it's probably a good thing. I threw 60.15m (197' 4") and just couldn't quite line one up. All the traveling lately has me pretty tired but I'm thankful to have plenty of time to rest up before heading to Des Moines next Wednesday. I got a good lifting session in today and a probably the best shot practice of the year. Dad gets in tomorrow and we're off to catch some fish after a tour of the training center!

Inaugural Post
I know I've been talking about setting up a blog for a while but I finally got it done! I'm sitting in the Edmonton airport on my way home from the Edmonton Classic. I threw 20.57m (67' 6") in the street meet on Friday and 20.49m (67' 2") in the stadium meet on Saturday. Special thanks to Rob Connors of Athletics Alberta for helping me get up there and to Ian Maplethorp of Jump Start Athletics for helping to put on the street meet. I've been traveling a lot lately and it's good to be consistent over 20m even when I don't feel 100%. There is a discus meet at the Training Center tomorrow that I'll be throwing in and then my next competition isn't until USAs (national championships) in two weeks. I'll finally have time to get some rest, recover, and get in some solid training before the biggest meet of my season! My pops is coming out to visit on Wednesday so I'm sure we'll get some fishing in this week too :) Below is a clip of my 20.57m throw.
